Craving for local traditional Vietnamese dessert . Was so happy to find this gem tucked off the main road . It’s someone’s house ! It’s small tables with many little kiddo chairs . Very cute . Menu is small . We were the only ones there we arrived and we ordered a whipped mung bean and green bean soup . Both came iced and not overly sweet . Soon groups of locals came in and woman, children and men ! All knew this place and ordered happily . I ordered an additional bowl of lotus seeds from the lady directly - she was just seated behind with basins of different ingredients and you can just point to what you want . What ever you order it is just 20k ! Wonderful !!
Great bowl of Chè in the hot afternoon of Hoi An. We had Chè all over Vietnam from other markets, shops as well as buffets but this one was really good!! Perhaps to cool down from the afternoon heat and join in the local's love for their desserts. We ordered more...haha.. so good...
Formerly located on a picturesque sidewalk off Nguyễn Huệ, opposite a charmingly chipped yellow wall and street vendors selling odds and ends, Bà Thọ ("Grandma Tho") was forced to move her long-standing stall of over twenty years from Old Town to her own living room, after the stricter policies on street food came into full force in Hội An not long ago. It is still worth the trip to her living room: you will be treated to the best chè bắp (a traditional, lightly sweet corn-based dessert) in Hội An or Đà Nẵng. Bà Thọ has applied for her street vendor license (for historic and traditional food stalls), and hopes to return to her old location soon!
Food was delicious and great service! Super cheap too! We got three different chè for less than the price of one at another place. Nice hole in the wall place. Lovely owner too, very friendly and quick
Location is now at the owner’s residence in an alley, so a bit difficult to find. I ordered the Thap Cam for 20k. It was good with a bit of everything. Main thing for me is it wasn’t too sweet. I prefer other types of che but this hits the spot if I’m craving it.
