Earlier today, I asked AI for some advice on where to find one of the best rice-paper-wrap meals in Hoi An. For the street-food version, it suggested Thịt Nướng Cô Lợi, describing it as: «“A roadside grill where you wrap your own grilled pork and beef in rice paper with fresh herbs and dipping sauce.”» When I arrived, I immediately understood the “roadside grill” part. The place was packed, with customers perched on tiny little stools and steps, eating shoulder-to-shoulder. How great. I love it. 😂 My 70+ westernized Chinese mother may complain the comfort level though. The whole scene somehow reminded me of Will Ferrell's A Night at the Roxbury, where the brothers pitch their genius idea for a nightclub: make the outside look like the inside, and the inside look like the street — complete with cars and street signs. And honestly, this restaurant could run with that concept. If I were the owner, I’d lean even harder into the roadside/street-food theme. Maybe polish up the décor a little while keeping the wonderfully rough-around-the-edges character. Reposition some of the lanterns, perhaps replace a few with some of my favorite Hoi An lanterns, and then go completely nuts with the street concept: add streetlights, traffic signals, warning signs, railway-crossing signals — whatever fits. Or, if you really want to go extreme, pick a favorite period from Vietnamese history and recreate the interior around it. Turn the whole restaurant into an experience. Because there’s definitely potential here. And I especially love the BBQ station. That thing is practically begging to become the restaurant's DJ booth — except instead of spinning records, the DJ is spinning pork. 😂 This restaurant is a trip, and that's part of its charm. Unfortunately, though, either the AI or whoever wrote the description got one important detail wrong: I don't think there was any beef. It appeared to be pork all the way. Still, wrap that grilled pork in rice paper with the herbs, dip it into the sauce, and you've got yourself a pretty damn fun roadside meal in Hoi An.

A true street-side local experience. Sitting on small stools by the road, enjoying the real street food atmosphere. The grilled meat skewers are delicious — wrap them with fresh vegetables in rice paper, dip into their signature sauce, and it’s absolutely addictive. An ice-cold beer makes it even better. One set is only 100k VND, and it’s more than enough for two people to eat. Simple, affordable, and full of local flavor. Highly recommended.

I've been visiting Cô Lợi Grilled Pork since its days as a small sidewalk eatery next to Phê La in Hoi An. Back then, despite the food being excellent, the dining experience could be challenging because it was often crowded, cramped, and quite hot. Since moving to this new location, everything feels much more comfortable. The space is spacious, airy, clean, and even has dedicated parking, making the overall experience much more enjoyable. Most importantly, the food remains just as good as I remember. The grilled pork is flavorful and aromatic, with the meat perfectly marinated and well-seasoned. The dipping sauce complements the dishes beautifully without overpowering them, bringing all the flavors together. It's great to see a local favorite improve its dining environment while maintaining the quality that made people come back in the first place. Highly recommended if you're looking for delicious grilled pork in Hoi An.

Reached around 630pm, peak hours, very busy, waited more than 30mins for the food. There no system, all depend on one young male server to make arrangements. There were two older lady servers, very friendly but unable to take order in English. Grilled meat was fresh and delicious. Try to go early around 5pm to avoid the crowd.

This was the first truely delicious meal we had during our stay in Hoi An. The pork was delicious and tender. A staff member kindly explained to us the best way to eat the dish. The place was busy and had a great atmosphere. Would return. Would recommend
