Ky Dong Restaurant

I really liked eating at Ky Dong Restaurant and came here a number of times during my stay in Hanoi. Everything we ate was delicious! I found the food and drinks to be very well priced. Everything was made fresh to order. Serving sizes were good too. Each time I went to the restaurant, it was very busy with both travellers and local customers. It was a great place to socialise and meet others. This added to the vibrant atmosphere of the place. Shared seating was available. Ky Dong was situated on the corner of the intersection in the food strip where you could take in all the happenings of the street. Pretty lanterns also illuminated the area at night. Service was always excellent too. It was very friendly, warm, welcoming, helpful, efficient and courteous.

We stopped at this restaurant because of the simple menu. The food we ordered matched the photos and was cooked well. We had 'sui cao chein' Fried Dumplings, so crispy, very tasty and moreish. We also had Ky Dong Steam Roll and Bun Cha, both were delicious. The coffee is also one of the best I have had in Vietnam. We are already discussing when we will be back. We had this as an early dinner, the food came quickly and the staff were very friendly. It's a lovely atmosphere, sitting and watching the world go by on the old cobbled street.

Went to KY Dong for spring rolls and accidentally raised my standards. The Hanoi spring rolls were incredible. Crispy, flavorful, disappeared so fast I briefly wondered if I had actually eaten them or just experienced a vision. The fresh spring rolls were the complete opposite energy: cool, refreshing, calm. Like the food equivalent of someone telling you to relax. And the dry beef noodles? Solid. No unnecessary theatrics, just good food doing its job properly. Honestly, best spring rolls I’ve had in Vietnam so far. Which is dangerous, because now every other spring roll has to compete for my approval like it’s applying for a position.

This is a very busy and popular place for traditional Vietnamese food. Many choices to choose from a relatively large menu. Service is very fast, does not take long to get your food after ordering. Enjoyable food.

This food was absolutely revolting. The 'chicken' and was basically a bowl of brown water, with boiled skin and bones. Honestly, it was gross. I wouldn't give my dog this food. The beef was chewier than a boot. The rice was this odd, microscopic, re-cooked cous cous type sludge. WHAT KIND OF FOOD was this!? Nasty. I'm gutted I ate this, because after I'd (over) paid, I went down the street and walked past 50 really nice looking places. Massive regret. DO NOT EAT HERE. Go down the road for some proper food.
