If you’re visiting Hanoi and want to experience an authentic bowl of Vietnamese chicken pho, Phở Gà Nguyệt is a place worth adding to your list. The first thing you’ll notice is the fragrant broth. It is clear, naturally sweet from slow-simmered chicken bones, and delicately seasoned without being overpowering. Every spoonful feels warm, comforting, and full of depth. The chicken is the true highlight. Unlike ordinary chicken, the meat is firm yet tender, with a pleasantly chewy texture that reflects the quality of free-range Vietnamese chicken. The skin is thin, slightly crispy, and rich in flavor, creating a wonderful contrast with the soft rice noodles. The bowl is generous, with plenty of chicken in every serving, making it both satisfying and excellent value. Fresh herbs, scallions, and a squeeze of lime allow you to customize the flavor while preserving the authentic taste of Vietnamese cuisine. Phở Gà Nguyệt is more than just a bowl of noodles, it’s a chance to experience one of Vietnam’s most beloved comfort foods, prepared with simplicity, quality ingredients, and traditional flavors. Whether it’s your first time trying Vietnamese pho or you’re already a fan, this is a memorable stop for an authentic local dining experience.
Lots of people do food hopping here. It is soooo good loved the chicken broth, the noodles ahhh chefs kiss. So flavourful especially when you add the lime and the chilli’s 🥰 well done! Keep it up no wonder it is Michelin recommended it is also open till late and it is very busy!!!
As someone who has been eating pho since childhood, I think the quality here is quite good. Food: 4.5/5 - The pho here is very authentic. The broth is naturally sweet and flavorful, and the chicken is of good quality, so it doesn’t feel dry or mushy. Overall, if you want to enjoy a good bowl of pho, this is a solid choice. Atmosphere: 3/5 - The space is small, and the tables are placed quite close together. Decor: 2.5/5 - Nothing particularly impressive. Price: 4/5 - Slightly more expensive than typical pho restaurants. It seems like they mainly cater to tourists, so the prices are a bit higher. However, considering the quality, I don’t think it’s overpriced. Service: 4/5 - The staff was polite, though I didn’t have enough interaction to rate them higher. Some of my reviews disappeared. This is hands down the best chicken Phở I have ever had! The broth is incredibly clear, light, and naturally sweet without being greasy. I highly recommend adding some sliced garlic to it—it elevates the taste to a whole new level and is a perfect match! You really can't go wrong here. Both the traditional hot noodle soup and their signature dry mixed noodle (Phở trộn) are absolute must-try dishes. The chicken is tender, and the portions are great. I loved it so much that I had it three times in just a few days. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Hanoi!
While many Michelin-recommended spots can be hit-or-miss, Phở Gà Nguyệt does live up to the recognition. The chicken pho stands out with a remarkably clean, aromatic broth and tender, flavorful cuts of chicken. Personally enjoyed the chicken breast + thigh pho. Overall very good quality, fair pricing, and highly recommended!
