Cool place for breakfast and banh cuon (similar to steamed flat rice omelette) has delicate flavor even with dipping sauce. Cha gio (steamed egg and grinded pork cake) is just 2 pieces per order. All and all cost d125k (4.8 USD) for the 2 of us. Fairly fast service. Clean enough utensils and floor. Grab will have no problem drop off or pick you up at this place. They have lots of options don’t show up in the menu, so just ask the waiter/waitress for recommendations.

Could not get over how good this was. Didn’t expect to order up to 3 servings because of how delicious it was! First we ordered the shrimp filling and it was sooo good, then we also ordered pork filling and it was even better! There’s an umami flavor to the pork filling. We also ordered Chinese sausage which we all liked. Definitely one of our highlights in our trip to Hanoi.

If you're not familiar with Bánh cuốn, let me introduce you: thin, delicate steamed rice crepes filled with seasoned ground pork, chicken, or shrimp and mushrooms, topped with fresh herbs and shallots. Light, satisfying, and the kind of thing you could eat at any hour of the day. Bánh Cuốn Gia Truyền is the place to have them. Famous for good reason, likely on every food tour in Hanoi, and absolutely worth the visit. We had pork, chicken and shrimp — all delicious. They accommodated my request to leave out the oil and fried shallots without any fuss, which I appreciated. It was so good we came back the next morning and ordered two rolls each. The shrimp was my personal favorite. Don't miss this one. It's an institution.

Some say it’s the No.1 place for steamed rice roll (like cheongfan 猪肠粉). The rice roll is thin, light and pairs so well with sauce, fried shallots, ‘Cha’ (a type of special pork sausage) and chilli. They also offer a cinnamon-flavoured ‘Cha’ but I didn’t fancy that. I think that the original one was better. A good dish for breakfast to get the day started.

Tried Vietnamese-style chee cheong fun (Bánh Cuốn) and it was absolutely delicious. The rice rolls were beautifully thin and delicate, perfectly wrapped around a flavorful mushroom filling. Dipping it into the sauce elevated everything—the balance of flavors was spot on. A squeeze of lime made it even better, adding a refreshing tang that tied it all together. We initially ordered one bowl to share, but it was so good that we ended up ordering two more. Definitely a must-try!
