Michelin buncha for many years running and in my opinion deservedly so as the buncha is tasty. The broth is light and slightly sweet, not oily despite the grilled pork inside it and felt clean and healthy compared to the other buncha I had in Hanoi. To me, that is the highlight of the buncha here. Not to mention, the grilled pork is tender, tasty and never too salty. Really enjoyed my meal here. Very very generous portions of grilled pork, vermicelli and vegetables (which were also really fresh!) - would advise those who have a smaller appetite to let them know to give you less noodles so they don't go to waste (saw many patrons who had leftover noodles and it was hard to watch :(). Don't expect amazing service, they hardly smile though they are not rude as well. Don't expect 100% hygiene as well, just don't pay too much attention to the these and you will enjoy your meal there! Saw that they recently opened a new outlet too with more seating area. Would say this is the best buncha I had in Hanoi!
Hands down the best bun cha that I’ve had in Hanoi (after trying multiple other places at various price points). I had a 40k bowl from a local spot (skimpy and low quality meat) and a 50k bowl from a spot pretty overrun by tourists (skimpy meat with pieces that were mostly fat and served with wilted veggies). At 55k, this was the most expensive bowl of bun cha that I’ve had BUT it is so worth it. In my opinion, this restaurant has the best amount and quality of meat and comes with the freshest and most plentiful pile of vegetables. I loved that the meat had a nice charred flavor and had barely any fat caps (which I found the other places having). That being said, the fat was exactly where it should be (intertwined with the meat and providing intense and lovely flavoring). The meatballs were incredible and the noodles were plentiful and cooked perfectly. I went in at 8:10 even though online says it opens at 8:30 and I was seated and given my food right away. Not too busy in the morning but a few locals came and went throughout the course of my meal. There are chilis, garlic, ground black pepper, and paprika (?) that you can add to customize your broth. I finished eating and was already thinking about coming here again tomorrow morning hahahah. Great, quick service too!
this is probably my favourite Bún Chả spot in Hà Nội when the main shop gets full theyll ask you to walk down the street (couple mins walk) to their other location that has extra seating nice rich flavours and the smokeyness from the grill in that dipping sauce! so good! their Nêm Cua Bể is average imo.
Great flavors. No nonsense bun cha and spring rolls joint with a michelin rating. Food and service are quick, the eating area is no frills.
Bun Cha 34 is no longer a hidden gem, especially after being featured in the Michelin Bib Gourmand list. Located on the bustling Hang Than Street, this is the perfect stop for those seeking authentic traditional Bun Cha in the heart of Hanoi. The Good: The food quality here is exceptional and generous for the price. The minced patties are flavorful, especially the ones wrapped in "la xuong song" (lolot-like leaves), which offer a unique aroma that sets this place apart from countless other shops. The grilled pork belly is perfectly charred with a good balance of fat and lean meat, keeping it juicy. The dipping sauce is well-balanced with the right hit of sour, spicy, salty, and sweet. The staff, despite always being on a "marathon" during peak hours, remain impressively quick and efficient. Suggestion: However, the broth's consistency can be a hit-or-miss during peak hours or holidays; the sauce sometimes feels a bit diluted or lacks the deep umami flavor it’s known for. Another minor drawback is that the grilled pork can occasionally be over-charred, leaving a bitter aftertaste. Being a classic Old Quarter eatery, the space is cramped and can get quite hot in the summer, and finding a parking spot is a real challenge. Service can also get a bit "grumpy" when the place is overwhelmed-a common "side dish" in Hanoi's famous local spots. P/s: A "must-visit" for Bun Cha enthusiasts and tourists wanting an authentic local culinary experience. Try to visit before or after the lunch rush (12 PM - 1 PM) to secure a better seat and enjoy your bowl to the fullest!
